Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains what data the service collects and why, and it took effect on 19 May 2026. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, which means a random cookie ID, your IP address for rate-limiting, and your email address only if you make a purchase. Everything below expands on those three items.

Contents
This is the table of contents for the policy, so you can jump straight to the section you care about. It runs from who we are, what information we collect and how we use it, through who we share it with and which third-party services are involved, then on to cookies, data retention, international transfers, your rights and data security.
1. Who we are
This privacy policy applies to the website danhnolan.com and all subdomains, the WordPress plugin Danh Nolan Outline DLN, and related services operated by Danh Nolan (the "Company", "we", "us", "our").

2. What information we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
This is the data you hand over yourself, as opposed to anything collected in the background. Topic text is the first item: when you use the outline generator, the topic you type is processed to produce your outline. Purchase email is the second: when you buy a PDF or subscribe, you give an email address to Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor.
- Topic text: when you use the outline generator tool, the topic you type is processed to produce your outline.
- Purchase email: when you buy a PDF or subscribe, you provide an email address to Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor) to receive your receipt and download link.
- Support correspondence: emails you send to contact@danhnolan.com for support or inquiries.
2.2 Information collected automatically
This is what the service records without you typing anything. The visitor cookie UID is a random UUIDv4 stored in a cookie named dnl_og_uid, valid for 1 year, used only to count your free-tier usage across browser sessions, and it contains no personal information. Your IP address is the second item recorded automatically.
- Visitor cookie UID: a random UUIDv4 stored in a cookie named
dnl_og_uid, valid for 1 year. Used only to count your free-tier usage across browser sessions. Contains no personal information. - IP address: your IP is recorded against your UID for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. Stored only as long as the UID record exists.
- User-agent string: your browser identification, stored alongside the UID record for diagnostics.
- Usage counters: how many outlines you have generated, used to enforce the free quota.
2.3 Information from third parties
Only one third party sends us information about you, and only after a payment. When you complete a purchase, Lemon Squeezy notifies us through a webhook carrying your order ID, your paid status, and the email address you gave them. Nothing else reaches us from outside, and nothing arrives unless you have actually bought something.
- Payment confirmation from Lemon Squeezy: when you complete a purchase, Lemon Squeezy notifies us via webhook with your order ID, paid status, and the email you provided to them.
3. How we use your information
This table pairs every purpose with the exact data used and the legal basis under GDPR. Running the outline generator uses your topic text and industry selection, on the basis of performance of contract. Enforcing the free-tier quota uses the cookie UID and usage counter, on the basis of legitimate interest in preventing abuse. Rate-limiting is the third purpose listed.
| Purpose | Data used | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Run the outline generator | Topic text, industry selection | Performance of contract |
| Enforce free-tier quota | Cookie UID, usage counter | Legitimate interest (prevent abuse) |
| Rate-limit abusive traffic | IP address, request timestamps | Legitimate interest (service availability) |
| Process payments | Email, cookie UID (passed to Lemon Squeezy) | Performance of contract |
| Send receipts and licence keys | Performance of contract | |
| Respond to support inquiries | Email content | Legitimate interest |
| Comply with legal obligations | Any of the above, when legally required | Legal obligation |
5. Third-party services, what they receive
This table names each third-party service, the data we send it, why we send it, and where to read their own privacy policy. The Anthropic Claude API receives your topic text, a list of industry slugs and labels, and the output language, and it is used to generate outline templates for industries not yet in our library.
| Service | Data we send | Purpose | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anthropic Claude API | Topic text, list of industry slugs+labels, output language | Generate outline templates for industries not yet in our library | anthropic.com/legal/privacy |
| Lemon Squeezy | Cookie UID, site URL, requested product variant | Payment processing as Merchant of Record | lemonsqueezy.com/privacy |
7. Data retention
This table sets out how long each category of data is kept before it goes. The cookie UID and usage counter are held for 1 year after your last activity, then purged automatically. Purchase records, meaning order ID, paid amount and paid_until, are retained for accounting and tax purposes for a legally required minimum period.
| Data category | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Cookie UID + usage counter | 1 year after last activity, then automatically purged |
| Purchase records (order ID, paid amount, paid_until) | Retained for accounting and tax purposes, minimum 7 years (Vietnamese tax law) |
| Support email correspondence | 2 years after last reply |
| Server access logs | 30 days |
8. International data transfers

For material changes, we will provide additional notice (for example, a banner on the site or an email to recent purchasers). FAQ about Privacy Policy
Direct answers to frequently asked questions about Privacy Policy, based on real-world implementation data, systematic technical audits, and verified production performance.
Will deleting the dnl_og_uid cookie give me unlimited free outlines?
No. Deleting the cookie resets your free quota, but the IP-level rate limit still applies to prevent abuse. Your IP address is recorded against your UID for rate-limiting and abuse prevention, so clearing cookies alone does not remove every limit on the outline generator.
Does danhnolan.com sell my personal data to advertisers?
No. danhnolan.com does not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and does not sell or share it for advertising. Data goes only to a small number of vetted service providers, such as Anthropic and Lemon Squeezy, strictly to deliver the service you requested, or when required by law or court order.
Can danhnolan.com see my full card number when I buy a PDF?
No. Lemon Squeezy handles all payment processing as Merchant of Record and collects your billing details, payment method, and email on its hosted checkout page. danhnolan.com never sees your full card number and receives only your order ID, paid status, and email through a webhook after the purchase.
Is the topic I type into the outline generator used to train AI models?
No. Your topic text is processed to produce your outline, and it reaches Anthropic's Claude API only when the AI fallback runs for industries not yet in the template library. Anthropic processes that data under its own privacy policy and does not retain it for model training.
How long does danhnolan.com keep each type of data?
Retention depends on the category. The cookie UID and usage counter are kept for 1 year after last activity, then automatically purged. Purchase records are kept for a minimum of 7 years under Vietnamese tax law, support email correspondence for 2 years after the last reply, and server access logs for 30 days.
What information does danhnolan.com collect automatically when I use the tool?
The service records a visitor cookie UID, your IP address, your user-agent string, and usage counters without you typing anything. The UID is a random UUIDv4 with no personal information, the IP supports rate-limiting and abuse prevention, the user-agent helps diagnostics, and the counters enforce the free quota.
What legal basis under GDPR covers each use of my data?
Running the outline generator, processing payments, and sending receipts and licence keys rely on performance of contract. Enforcing the free-tier quota, rate-limiting abusive traffic, and answering support inquiries rely on legitimate interest. Any data may also be used when legally required, on the basis of legal obligation.
What security measures protect my data on danhnolan.com?
All data travels over HTTPS with TLS 1.2+, webhooks are authenticated with HMAC-SHA256 signature verification, and API keys are stored encrypted at rest in the WordPress database. Admin functions use capability-based access control, state-changing actions use nonce-based CSRF protection, and public endpoints are rate-limited. No system is ever 100% secure.
What does the danhnolan.com privacy policy say about cookies?
The danhnolan.com privacy policy says the outline generator uses a single first-party cookie named dnl_og_uid. The cookie is essential for free-tier quota tracking, lasts 1 year, and holds a random UUIDv4 with no personal information. The outline generator runs no Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other third-party tracking script.
How do I ask danhnolan.com to delete my personal data?
To have danhnolan.com delete personal data, email contact@danhnolan.com with the deletion request. Danh Nolan may ask you to verify your identity, for example by sending the request from the same email used for purchase, and responds within 30 days as required by GDPR. Deletion can be requested any time.
Does the danhnolan.com privacy policy cover California CCPA rights?
Yes. The danhnolan.com privacy policy gives California residents the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, the right to request deletion, the right to opt out of any sale or sharing, and non-discrimination for exercising those rights. danhnolan.com does not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Is danhnolan.com meant for children under 16?
No. The danhnolan.com services are not directed at children under 16, and the danhnolan.com privacy policy states that no personal information is knowingly collected from children under 16. Anyone who believes a child has provided personal information can contact Danh Nolan, and that information will be deleted.
